International Mother Language Day

Our big project at the moment in the English as an Additional Language and Mother Tongue (EAL & MT) Department is UNESCO's International Mother Language Day. You will find a display board in the atrium at school with information about the day and how Ambrit is celebrating it together with examples of work the children have done. This is a work in progress and we will complete it after the winter break.

The first event was a Chinese New Year Workshop run by Lin Lin Mao, Ambrit's Mandarin teacher. On February 2nd and 9th Primary and Middle School classes were able to take part in Chinese calligraphy and paper cutting activities. They made traditional decorations put up in Chinese homes to celebrate the new year, heralding the coming of good fortune and making the place look very colourful.

International Mother Language Day IN ROME gives you a link to information about how the day will be marked here on our home ground.

  1. Sawadee Ka from Thailand. Looks like a great day. Maybe next year we can organise some events which involve children communicating and sharing languages between our 2 schools.
